Old management VS New Management(Blindfolded)

From the second session of class we got used to surprises where mandi sir brought some toys and an activity will be done using these toys .This time he bought the building blocks which needs to be arranged in a particular manner as shown. The rules were told by sir in arranging those blocks.
Now its time to challenge US!!..He asked for the volunteers who opted to build the maximum number of blocks and many people hesitated to volunteer since there is a risk of loosing our money(Auction). Finally the auction was stopped at 14 blocks for Rs.400.Finally he did it by building 22 blocks.

Now in the blindfolded way three volunteers were asked to discuss among themselves who would play the role of CEO (overall supervisory),Manager(one who guides the worker to achieve the goal) and the worker(one who does the work as ordered to him but has no chance to make decisions). To demonstrate this concept in an easy way the worker was blindfolded by kerchief and manager guides the worker to arrange blocks in a proper way.The CEO's work is nothing in this process. In the first case he was able to build about 22 blocks but agreed to build only 14 blocks.Practically in a business the blindfolded one is more advantageous than a non blindfolded one.So in the second case the worker has to build more blocks than 22 blocks. Finally after a lot of effort and time they were able to built 24 blocks.
The class was fun and we are able to understand the concepts. And by the way the various ways the blocks can be arranged to get a good number of blocks was also discussed. These strategies or ideas helped us to explore ourselves.

I am anticipating a lot of fun and learning in the mandi sir's class...will keep you updated.
Till then happy reading :-)

Our First meet with Dr.Mandi

Its the first class of HR and I have no idea how the class would be.Then comes Dr.Mandi with his bag with a stress relief balls and newtons cradle.I have no idea how these are going to relate to our subject. He asked us to sit down on the floor near the stage. He started class by showing us newtons cradle.he posed us many questions on how the steel balls would react when they are set to oscillate.Since i haven't tried it i couldn't answer. Then after some time he took a stress relief ball with globe and started to relate the subject with these two items.

The class started to be very much interactive. We asked about MANDI and its significance for the past years  in NITIE. He started explaining that MANDI is a non-profitable social organisation which helps the poor children indirectly. The things he bought to the class were once products that were sold by the students.Every year the students of NITIE would volunteerly enter  in to this event and sell some of the products to the people in mumbai. We discussed how this event can be implemented through out the country.By selling these products there are two advantages where we could apply the marketing strategies that were taught in the class and on the other hand helping the poor people in our country. We got a chance to develop our skills and managing people in these two years. This video shows how interactive Mandi sir rather different from all  the other professors.
